TARRY IN THE CITY (Sit Down and Wait)

(Sit Down and Wait)

#SamKorankyeAnkrah

"Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”

" Luke 24:49 NKJV

This week I want us to consider the last words of Jesus which were an instruction to His disciples on what they must do upon His ascension to heaven.

Jesus had promised to ask the Father to send them another Helper or Comforter who would come, teach and lead them into all truth. Then in His last words, He commanded them to tarry in the city of Jerusalem until they had received the promise.

The Greek word for tarry is "Kathizo" which literally means to sit down. In essence, Jesus was commanding His disciples to sit down and just wait for the promise to be fulfilled. Sitting down is painful and can be frustrating especially when you're in a hurry or desperate.

Tarrying requires patience and endurance because there is no guarantee on how long you'll have to wait. When you tarry with patience and expectation, God in His own time will release the power upon you.

I pray that God will give you the grace to tarry in the place of prayer and fellowship to receive fully from God.

#Prayer

Father, I pray for the patience to tarry until you release the fullness of your power upon me, in the name of Jesus.
