HONOURING A FATHER (The Command)

“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.”
Exodus 20:12 NKJV
Honouring your father is essential for several reasons, but the most important is that God commanded it. It is the fifth of the ten commandments, and by obeying it, we show our love to God.
God values human relationships, especially those with our parents.
This commandment therefore directs us to hold our fathers in high esteem. To celebrate, cherish, and to remain loyal to them until the end. In our world today, we are often keenly aware of our rights and freedoms, including how we choose to speak and act towards our parents. However, God teaches us that these ways may seem right but will only lead us to our destruction. Therefore, we should let His Word renew our perspective about our fathers.
We should pray, forgive, express our gratitude, involve them, serve, be truthful, and speak well of them even in their shortcomings. We should make it a goal to do what brings honour to our parents.
I declare that as you obey this command, God will enlarge your territories and give you long life to enjoy them in Jesus’ name, Amen!
