Royal Ladies Ministry donates to Agortor CHPS Compound

The ministry presented three hospital beds, 3 wheel chairs,  5 Stethoscopes, boxes of medicines, boxes of sanitizers, boxes of mosquitoes nets, boxes of wipes, and gallons of disinfectants among others to the health facility.

Presenting the items to the facility on Wednesday February 7, 2024,  President General of Royal Ladies Ministry, Rev. Mrs. Rita Korankye-Ankrah, said the gesture was part of the group's social responsibility.

It was also to give back to the community as Royal Ladies marks its 30th anniversary celebration in 2024.

She said since the Ministry's multi-purpose conference and accommodation facility dubbed ‘City of Shiloh’ is situated at Agotor-Tsopoli it was prudent to give back to the community.

"We have been here severally seeing their clinic and we noticed that their clinic is nothing to write home about . So let us equip the clinic , let us raise the image of the clinic , let us help the community . So this is actually the first programme we are embarking on for our 30th anniversary. Giving back to the Agortor community," she said.

She added that the group had noticed other issues which needs to be addressed hence it will come back to give the clinic the needed support in order to improve healthcare delivery in the area.

"We have come to the clinic, we have seen the community... as and when God blesses us, we want to tell the people of Agortor and the midwife that today is not going to be the last time and we are certainly coming back, we are going to partner with them and we are going to help the clinic and help the Agortor community.

Mama Rita as she is affectionately called also presented an undisclosed amount of money to the only nurse at the facility, Wisdom Bimban N-Yinlignan, for single-handedly running the facility.

Educational Support

The premiere lady of Royalhouse Chapel International further stated that the Ministry will commence vacation class for all school going children in the community starting this academic year.

She said the children will be taught Science, Mathematics and English lessons.

She explained that an encounter she had with a Junior High School (JHS) student in the area who could not express himself in English had led to the initiative.

"Sometimes we think Accra is all about Ghana , but I want people in Ghana or in Accra to know, that there are communities that are not far from Accra, yet they are so deprived," she said.

The City of Shiloh project

Touching on the City of Shiloh Project, Rev. Mrs. Korankye-Ankrah said the facility when completed will house an administration block, a vocational and rehabilitation centre to train young women in dress making, handy craft, soap making, a multi-purpose hall to host group activities, 1000 accommodation block, a shopping centre, a main auditorium to host the women during their annual conference, a bible school and medical centre.

She said the centre was going to be a place to reform ex-convicts, social misfits, drug addicts and help them reintegrate into society.

She was therefore grateful that the community has bought into the vision.

Show of Gratitude

Receiving the items, Mr. Wisdom Bimban N-Yinlignan thanked the Apostle General, Rev. Sam Korankye-Ankrah and his wife Mama Rita for remembering the people of Agortor.

He said the gesture will go a long way to improve healthcare delivery in the community of over 4,000 people.

He lamented that lives have been lost because they could not get access to quality healthcare.

He explained that the nurses’ quarters is in a poor shape and has therefore been abandoned.

He further added that some of these things have led to health personal refusing posting to the area.

He, therefore, appealed to the Government and the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to come to their aid.

In an interview with some of the residents, they expressed joy and lauded the Royal Ladies Ministry led by Mama Rita for the presentation.

Madam Grace Sebi said she lost her sister and her unborn child two years ago because her sister could not get care on time.

She explained that because the facility did not have a midwife at the time, her sister was referred to a bigger facility where she died.

Sarah Tetteh on her part said they mostly go to Botor hospital and others for care because there was no medical doctor at the facility.

"It is only bother Wisdom who is at the clinic taking care of us. And something's he does not have the medication and the ability hence when he is unable to deal with the issue, he will advise us to go to a bigger hospital which is far from us. And if you are not lucky and you fall seriously sick at night, hmmm".

"We just got a midwife today, I pray the government will send us a doctor, life is not easy here so they don't want to come here. It is only brother wisdom who is a nurse who have accepted to be with us all these years and he is really helping us" Maame Esi, a resident also stated.
